This report provides data about Tacoma Community College (Washington), including college mission, accreditation, enrollment, facilities and finance. Tacoma Community College is a comprehensive state-supported school serving more than 650,000 residents in the Pierce County areas of western Washington. The college maintains an open door admission policy and provides educational opportunities at the lowest possible cost consistent with acceptable standards of quality. The college provides a comprehensive curriculum including academic transfer education, occupational and vocational education, lifelong continuing education, international education, and developmental education. During 1999-2000 academic year, there were 5,443 full time students and 3,195 part-time students enrolled. While attending the college, 2,025 were employed full-time and 2,120 worked part-time off campus. Primary support services consists of activities providing primary support to instruction. The three major elements are academic computing services, ancillary support services, and academic administration. For fiscal year 1999, $904,740 (5.1% of total expenditure) were used for primary support services. Instruction, which consists of the formal instructional activities provided for students, accounted for 47.5% of the total expenditure. (JA)
