Culture & Technology[TM]. [CD-ROM].
This three CD-ROM set is designed to integrate social studies and science. There are 1,300 lessons developed and field tested by curriculum specialists, teachers, and students over a period of 15 years. Using dramatic video, audio, and photos, students can make connections between diet and temperature, location and climate, safety and energy, nature and civilization, and other ways in which science and technology affect cultures and societies. The computer responds to menu choices made by the user and provides resource titles that fit the selection criteria. When the title of a resource is selected, an abstract of that resource will appear. The abstract provides a brief description, highlighting information before looking at the actual resource. Abstracts contain two parts: categorical descriptions such as grade range, subject, and title that the retrieval software uses when searching; and a synopsis of the resource. The synopsis provides two kinds of information: the content of the resource, and highlights of the activities that students experience. Lessons are correlated to the National Science Education Standards. (SAH)
