EDExpress Packaging Training, 2001-2002.
Office of Student Financial Assistance (ED), Washington, DC.
Packaging is the process of finding the best combination of aid to meet a student's financial need for college, given limited resources and the institutional constraints that vary from school to school. This guide to packaging under the EDExpress software system outlines three steps to packaging. The first is determining the student's need for financial aid (cost of attendance less expected family contribution). The second is calculating and awarding the Federal Pell Grant, and the third is awarding aid from federal, state, private, and school sources to best meet the student's remaining need. For step three, each school has the latitude to use its own policies and procedures for allocation. EDExpress Packaging is the module that contains the basic functions for tracking and awarding a student's Title IV Federal Aid, state aid, school aid, and other outside resources. Following an overview of EDExpress Packaging, this guide presents information on: (1) "System Setups"; (2) "Managing Data"; (3) "Document Tracking"; (4) "Working with Student Awards"; and (5) "Reports." Five appendixes contain sample worksheets and letters, a glossary, sample reports, and sample query reports. (SLD)
