This document is a compilation of data collected from proprietary postsecondary education schools in Missouri. It is the 11th publication derived from such data collection efforts. Data for 82 Missouri-based private career schools and 21 out-of-state regionally accredited degree granting institutions are reported in the statistical summary portion of the report. The data are displayed by individual schools, but the observations made about proprietary postsecondary education in Missouri are based on aggregated information and analyses, During 1999, Missouri private career schools enrolled 48,679 students in 917 instructional programs of a widely varied nature. This figure includes students enrolled in on-campus programs as well as those receiving their education by correspondence. As the graphical section of this report shows, the largest student enrollment is in precision technology, an area that includes programs in computer science, engineering technology, and precision production. Allied health programs have also shown a large increase in enrollment. Data also indicate that private career schools are continuing a high level of performance in the area of success of graduates in finding employment. The schools in this report graduated 20,206 students into the employment market. They also employed 2,243 people with a payroll of more than $63 million, making it clear that the private career school sector is a large segment of postsecondary education in Missouri.
