This report includes a brief statement regarding the progress of Arizona's community colleges during the past fiscal year and provides statistical information on finances, enrollment, employment, and educational programs. The document includes progress reports from colleges in Arizona's 10 community college districts. Each progress report presents institutional "facts-at-a-glance," major accomplishments in 1999-2000, major issues and resolutions in 1999-2000, and upcoming issues for 2000-2001. One of the major accomplishments of the State Board of Directors for Community Colleges of Arizona in 1999-2000 was the adoption of a resolution in support of Education 2000, a proposal to ask Arizona voters to approve a new education sales tax of 6/10 of 1%. Report highlights include: (1) fall 1999 full-time and part-time enrollment data indicate that 76.8% of community college students of Arizona had part-time status, and 23.2% had full-time status; (2) fall 1999 headcount by ethnic or race group shows that 62.9% were white and 18.7% were Hispanic; (3) the greatest source of funds (general and plant funds combined) for fiscal year 1999-2000 came from district tax levy; and (4) in addition to the community colleges, Arizona has three skill centers to train unemployed and under employed persons for entry or re-entry into the labor market.
