Children Teaching Children (CTC): Collection II is a CD-ROM created at 6 elementary schools in the West Contra Costa Unified School District (California) as part of the Coaching Odyssey for school improvement. CTC II, published by the California Department of Education, is an effective early literacy intervention that integrates the development of literacy and computer skills. It is a literacy project intended to assist students to read, write, and publish their own original work in "publishing houses" established at their schools. The CD-ROM contains 21 children's stories written in English and Spanish by teachers and consultants for students who are learning to read and write, a set of classroom extensions on how to use the stories, and an exercise book on how to illustrate storybooks. Following an Introduction and Acknowledgment, sections of the CD-ROM are: Children's Stories (with a section of stories in English and one with stories in Spanish), Original Student Drawings, Tips on Publishing Children Stories, and Classroom Extensions. Finally, "You Can Draw" is an exercise book on the CD-ROM that teaches how to draw and illustrate one's own storybook. (SR)
