Developed at Roosevelt Elementary School in Long Beach Unified School District (California), this CD-ROM presents Children Teaching Children (CTC), a literacy project intended to assist students to read, write, and publish their original work. It is part of the Program Improvement Initiative, an educational reform effort initiated by the California Department of Education. The CD-ROM is a collection of 23 children's stories, a set of classroom extensions on how to use the stories, and an exercise book on how to illustrate storybooks. Following an Introduction and Acknowledgment, sections on the CD-ROM include: Classroom Extensions, Emergent Reading Stories by Roosevelt Students, Early Reading Stories by Roosevelt Students, Early Reading Stories by Adults, Fluent Reading Stories by Roosevelt Students, Fluent Reading Stories by Adults, Original Student Drawings, and Tips on Publishing Children's Stories. Finally, "You Can Draw" is an exercise book on the CD-ROM that teaches how to draw and how to illustrate one's own storybook. (SR)
