For 17 years, the Adult Career Counseling Center (ACCC) at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, has provided computer-assisted career guidance systems and career counseling services to a culturally diverse clientele of more than 11,000 adults living in the local community. The ACCC's goals are as follows: (1) provide career exploration and planning opportunities to community adults at no cost; (2) train faculty, staff, and students in the use of computer-assisted career guidance programs; and (3) support research efforts to improve understanding of the career development sphere and thereby promote better career guidance practices for adults. The ACCC's services include exploring occupational information, facilitating self-awareness, assisting in resume preparation, developing interviewing skills, and offering referral information. Of those clients who completed the ACCC's exit survey between September 1999 and June 2000, 97% rated the center's services as outstanding. (Twelve figures are included.
