Every Child Mathematically Proficient: An Action Plan.
Learning First Alliance, Washington, DC.
The knowledge and use of mathematics is essential in everyone's life; therefore, learning mathematics is central to elementary and secondary education. American students, however, continue to lag behind their world peers in mathematics achievement. Furthermore, substantial achievement gaps exist between groups of these students. The Learning First Alliance advances this Action Plan to bring American students to world-class levels in mathematics. This document discusses goals, achievement, curriculum changes, professional development, parent and the public roles, and research-based reforms. (Contains 54 references.) (ASK)
