This document reports on the salaries paid in faculty and selected administrative positions in the Oklahoma state system of higher education. The average salary for all full-time faculty equated to a 9-10 month basis in Oklahoma state-supported colleges and universities is $46,145 for the year 1998-99. This is an increase of $956 or 2.1% above 1997-98. Average salaries increased $4,231 at the universities, $2,388 at the four-year universities, and $2,325 at the two-year colleges. These salaries represent increases of 8.4%, 5.9%, and 6.5%, respectively, over 1997-98. Among the three categories of institutions, the rank of professor at the comprehensive universities showed the greatest dollar increase over 1997-98. Full-time salaries on a 9-10 month basis in the 25 institutions in 1998-99 range from a minimum of $12,400, an increase of 15.9% from 1997-98, to a maximum of $164,999, an increase of $20,799 or 14.4% over the previous year. On an 11-12 month basis, full-time salaries range from a minimum of $13,599, an increase of 13.3% from 1997-98, to a maximum of $148,795, a decrease of 1.4%. The average fringe benefits paid for faculty on a 9-10 month contract basis for 1998-99 are $12,408, an increase over 1997-98 of $1,453, or 13.3%; for faculty on an 11-12 month contract basis, average benefits total $15,337, an increase of $1,408 or 10.1%. Comprehensive universities average salary is 88% of the national average, compared with 83% in 1987-88. (VWC)
