Home visiting is a way of providing services to children and families. Based on the experiences of home visitors in Vermont, this booklet discusses promising home visiting practices. Following a preface and introduction, the book's sections are: (1) "The Home Visiting Relationship"; (2) "The Home Visit: Essential Components"; (3) "The Home Visit: Defining Expectations"; (4) "The Home Visit: Structure of the Home Visit"; (5) "The Home Visitor: Essential Personal Characteristics"; (6) "The Home Visitor: Skills, Experience, and Knowledge"; and (7) "Organizational Support for the Home Visitor."
