Children's Literature: Its Power and Influence on Primary Children's Literacy Development.
Park, Joanne Yoona
Current articles on the power and influence of children's literature on primary children's literacy development and achievement were reviewed. Research indicates that literature has a positive effect on the academic achievement of children and that literacy skills are essential components of academic success. Children who have been exposed to literature from an early age often develop faster reading achievement, language, vocabulary, and writing skills. Literature is an effective tool in teaching, developing, and shaping the minds of young children. (Contains 30 references.) (Author/RS)
