The Jefferson County School District (Denver, Colorado) has published this model standard for the planning and designing of new elementary schools, and the remodeling and modernizing existing schools. It describes the facility requirements to accommodate the instructional program, activities, and support functions to assist architects, school staffs, and the Design Advisory Group. Areas examined include specifications for core areas such as administration, cafeteria, computer labs, kitchens, and libraries; and support areas such as building and wiring standards, corridors, custodial, and plumbing facilities. Also included are site development standards and the elementary education assignable space allocations for 650 pupils.
