This book outlines approaches to teaching and learning that can address the diverse needs of students of different genders, races, ethnicities, classes, ages, and sexual orientations. The text focuses on strategies that optimize women's educational experiences, particularly education that is women-centered, and the attendant strategies that positively influence that educational experience. The book combines theoretical positions and practical strategies for implementing new pedagogies and attitudes. It explores feminist issues in the classroom, on campuses, and in individual relationships. The volume is divided into four parts. The fourth section, "Changing Individual Expectations," describes situations and programs in which students develop their own resources--whether in an advising relationship or in a more formal program.
