Tennessee Board of Regents Annual Report Card.

This document is the Tennessee Board of Regents' (TBR's) second annual report card, which details the accomplishments of the state's public higher education institutions in four areas: student learning, academic programs, faculty productivity, and financial accountability. An overall status report is provided for the entire state system, followed by individual reports for each of the state's 6 universities, 14 community colleges, and 6 technical centers. The specific indicators being reported include: Licensure Fields, Job Placement, Student Satisfaction, Alumni Satisfaction, Core Knowledge and Skills, Graduation Rates, and Degrees Granted under Student Learning; Program Accreditation and External Peer Review for Academic Programs; Faculty Productivity; and Tuition and Fees, Staffing, Expenditures, Private Giving, and Financial Aid under Financial Accountability. Highlighted findings for the entire system include: (1) 87% of 3,239 university students and 85% of 2,164 two-year students who took exams for first professional licenses passed on the first attempt; (2) 91% of students currently enrolled in TBR universities or community colleges said they were very satisfied or satisfied with their education; (3) on standardized tests of core knowledge and skills, TBR students performed as well as students nationally; (4) 99% of TBR programs eligible for national accreditation have received accreditation; and (5) TBR institutions are serving 38,200 more students in 1998 than they did in 1988 with a faculty/staff increase of 2,377.
