Trends in Student Aid.
College Board, Washington, DC. Washington Office.
This report presents annual data on the amount of financial assistance available to postsecondary students in the form of grants, loans, and work-study. The data cover virtually all federal aid and most state and institutional assistance; not included in the study is financial aid in the form of indirect subsidies, students' wages, employer-paid tuition assistance, credit card debt, or tax incentives benefitting students and parents. Text and 19 tables and figures explain and display a variety of data for the period 1988-89 to 1998-99. Trend data presented includes aid awarded to postsecondary students in current dollars; aid awarded in constant dollars; average tuition and fee charges; number of recipients and aid per recipient for specific programs; federal need versus non-need aid volume; and total federal outlays on Title IV student aid programs. Appended are two tables that provide data from 1963-64 to 1987-88, and additional tables providing loan data. Notes and source information are also appended. (DB)
