Assessing and Training Secondary School Administrators: A Practical Workbook for Selecting Candidates and Developing Their Skills after They're on Board.
Griggs, G. Steven
This book is designed to help new or aspiring secondary school administrators to go beyond theory and into practice to successfully face the many situations that administrators encounter on a daily basis. It can also be used to assess the preparedness of entry-level administrative candidates. The first section of the book contains evaluation and assessment forms, including a problem-solving action response form that the administrator or candidate can use to respond to each of the mail basket or scenario items presented in the second and third sections of the book. The second section contains 25 mail basket items, representative of items an administrator could expect to find in incoming mail over a period of time. The scenarios in the third section are similar to the mail basket items, but go into more depth in developing the situation at hand. Asking prospective administrators to respond to either type of item can give insight into the candidate's decision-making skills. Using the situations for training allows the administrator to anticipate real problems that may occur. The fourth section contains discussion starter questions related to the mail basket and scenario items. (SLD)
