The CASE Report of Educational Fund-Raising Campaigns, 1996-1997.

This report presents results of a survey of fund raising activities of 181 colleges and universities in North America during 1996-97. The survey was based on standards developed by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). The data are presented in two parts. First, summaries of the reported data, broken down into eight categories, appear in chart format accompanied by written statements describing the results and citations to relevant CASE Campaign Standards. Second, profiles of all 181 institutions appear in a spreadsheet format that shows cumulative financial results by objective and source, as well as other campaign and institutional data. Highlights include: nearly 75 percent of all institutions with deferred gifts reported them at the discounted present value, a significant increase over the 1994-95 results; 88 percent of institutions have pledge-payment periods of five years or less; and the percentage of institutions reporting both the face value and the discounted present value of deferred gifts to their donors increased by 9 percent over the 1994-95 report. The reported survey results suggest that the CASE standards are having the desired impact on the way institutions report campaign results. The survey is included. (Contains 18 figures.) (DB)
