This guide describes 79 programs and services for children in Iowa. Each program description usually includes a brief program overview and information on age requirements and eligibility, specific services provided, any mandated services, costs, where to apply, and the responsible agency. The programs are grouped into the following categories: interagency (1 program); education (7 programs); health (18); human services (26); insurance (9); Social Security (9); and other support services, most of which are for financial assistance and support (15). Twenty-five appendices provide a variety of additional resources and information such as: a listing of parent and educator coordinators, a list of Iowa Head Start programs, the "Healthy Families Iowa" directory, a list of county public health nursing service and home care agencies, federal poverty guidelines for the Maternal Child Health program, Child Care Assistance income guidelines, definitions of long-term care facilities level of care, private insurance checklist for families, and locations of Social Security Administration office locations.
