A Guide to Women's Studies in the Outdoors: A Review of Literature and Research with Annotated Bibliography. Fifth Edition.
Roberts, Nina S., Comp.
This resource guide compiles research studies and papers about women in experiential education and recreation in the natural environment. This guide focuses on adventure-based activities and physical recreation in the outdoors; therefore, information regarding women in forestry, natural resources, and ecofeminism has not been included. With the 5th edition, the guide has now begun to incorporate studies (written in English) that have been completed in other parts of the world. The contents provide an overview of the diversity of experiences through which women in the outdoors mobilize themselves. This resource provides information about research that examines women as leaders and role models, gender differences and traditional roles, feminist perspectives, experiential education and outdoor programming, wilderness challenges, and more. An author index provides personal information about authors listed in the bibliography. The bibliography is followed by an annotated listing. A subject index is provided as well as an appendix that lists the goals and objectives of the bibliography. (CDS)
