Educational Documentation, Research and Decision-Making: National Case Studies. Studies in Comparative Education.
Rokicka, Wanda, Ed.
In 1997, The International Bureau of Education (IBE) launched a series of case studies on the processes involved in the use of educational information and research. These studies describe how recent educational research has been disseminated and how educational reforms may have benefited, or not benefited, from insights gained through research. These studies represent 13 IBE member nations. They are: (1) "Information, Research and Decision-Making in Barbados" (Patricia A. Ellis); (2) "The Utilization of Research and Information in Educational Decision-Making: A Case Study of Ontario, Canada" (David N. Wilson); (3) "The Relationship among Educational Research, Information and Policy-Making: A Case Study of China" (Zhou Nanzhao, Zhu Mujue, Bi Jiguang, and Zan Tiejun); (4)"Information, Research and Policy Decision-Making in the Czech Republic" (Jiri Kotasek); (5) "Educational Information and Decision-Making in Egypt" (Abdel Fattah Galal); (6) "The Production and Utilization of Educational Information in the Islamic Republic of Iran" (Abbas Bazargan); (7) "Educational Policy-Making and Research: The Case of Lebanon" (Fairouz Farah-Sarkis); (8) "Case Study on the Use of Information in Mali" (Idrissa Diarra); (9) "The Use of Research in Decision-Making: The Case of Mexico" (Catalina Olga Maya Alfaro); (10) "Case Study on Information Utilization in Poland" (Andrzej Janowski); (11) "Case Study on the Production, Dissemination and Use of Research in Policy-Making in Scotland (United Kingdom)" (Wynne Harlen and Margo Reid); (12) "Case Study on Information Utilization in South Africa" (J. C. Claassen); and (13) "Information, Research and Decision-Making in Uruguay" (Renato Opertti). Two appendixes contain Guidelines for the Preparation of the Case Study and a "Cumulative List of Acronyms." (Contains 11 tables and 4 figures.) (SLD)
