This report presents tables showing statistical data on enrollment, degrees, conferred, faculty, and financing for West Virginia institutions of higher education. The tables are intended to depict characteristics of West Virginia's 25 colleges and universities, including five- and ten-year trends showing enrollment growth, and progress in such areas as student access and diversity. Preliminary information includes a map locating the institutions and a list of the included institutions. Tables are then grouped into the following chapters (sample tables in parentheses): (1) enrollment (credit headcount enrollment, full-time equivalent enrollment by student level and course taxonomy); (2) programs offered, degrees conferred, and completers of teacher certification programs (programs and degrees offered by, respectively, public and independent institutions, degrees conferred by level); (3) faculty and staff characteristics, fall 1998 (academic rank of full-time instructional faculty, highest degree held by full-time faculty, and average nine-month salary of full-time faculty by academic rank); (4) fiscal data, 1997-98 (statements of current funds revenues, expenditures, transfers and other changes for state colleges and universities, and regular student charges (tuition, and registration, resources, faculty improvement, and other fees).
