Never Too Early To Write: Adventures in the K-1 Writing Workshop.
This book was developed for two reasons: to show teachers, administrators, and parents how to have a successful year-long writing program; and to demonstrate that a valuable literacy tool is not expensive when it utilizes reading-readiness materials already in use. Intended primarily for K-1 teachers, the book contends that students can be encouraged to write even before they can read. Among other things, it shows teachers how to use dictation, drawing, scribbling, and temporary spelling to build writing skills, and how to maximize 10 effective classroom writing-workshop strategies in a literature-based setting or with any readiness series. The book also contains a wordless books list, an extensive pattern books list, and a list of periodicals that publish children's writing. (NKA)
