Critical Issues in K-12 Environmental Education.

This document reviews the critical issues in K-12 environmental education discussed at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)/Morgan State University summer institute for kindergarten through grade 12 educators. Areas reviewed included curriculum, employment opportunities and career awareness, environmental equity, professional development, and transferability. Participants were assigned to small working groups of six to eight teachers with one group facilitator. Each group concentrated on one category. Methods used included brain storming and affinity diagraming to develop critical issues for each category. Each group gave a brief presentation of their topic to the other participants at the end.
