Children's Defense Fund Annual Report, 1997. Celebrating 25 Years.
Children's Defense Fund, Washington, DC.
This 25th anniversary annual report of the Children's Defense Fund (CDF) describes the work the organization has done to advocate for and educate the United States about the needs of children. The report begins by identifying the CDF's Board of Directors, Fund Management Team, dedication message from the CDF's current president, and the anniversary honorary committee. This is followed by a brief history of the CDF's institutional development on a yearly basis beginning in 1968 and ending with 1998. The report continues with a summary of award-winning public awareness campaigns including efforts to prevent teen pregnancy, child health, child care, and equitable treatment of children. The report then describes key 1997 CDF accomplishments including campaigns to end child poverty, child health promotion, and strengthening child advocacy. A listing of 1997 publications is also included. A listing of CDF State and Local Presence and Action Models includes ten state and local efforts. A description of the Black Community Crusade for Children is presented including how current activities address the project vision. The 1997 Financial Report section provides an accounting of revenues and expenses and the general financial position of the organization. The report concludes with an accounting of corporate and individual donors, bequests, and memorial contributions. (SD)
