This publication explains the ABCs of Alberta's school system. The text is divided into nine topics: Alberta's commitment to universal public education; the roles and responsibilities of partners in education; education property taxes; opportunities for choice in education, such as private schools, charter schools, Francophone schools, alternative programs, home education, blended programs, and virtual programs; enrollment requirements for out-of-province students; a solid foundation in school programs, including basic K-12 programs, language and art programs, and students with special needs programs; strategies to prepare students for the future; expectations in reaching high standards; and how to ensure quality teaching.
