The Poet's Companion: A Guide to the Pleasures of Writing Poetry.
Addonizio, Kim; Laux, Dorianne
Intended for anyone who wants to write poetry (and do it well), this guide provides the "nuts and bolts" of craft and process, as well as the sources of inspiration. The guide contains brief essays on the elements of poetry, technique, and suggested subjects for writing; each essay is followed by distinctive writing exercises. Included are tips about getting published, writing in the electronic age, grammar, and revision. The guide can be used in a semester-long class or in a poetry workshop, but it can also be used independently of the class setting. Appendixes contain a list of helpful books on poetry and writing; selected anthologies for further reading; addresses of markets for poems; and a list of further resources for writers. (NKA)
