Helping Children at Home and School: Handouts from Your School Psychologist.
Canter, Andrea S., Ed.; Carroll, Servio A., Ed.
A follow-up to the National Association of School Psychologists'"Helping Children Grow up in the 1990's," this collection of handouts represents updated, revised, and newly developed resources addressing many children's issues faced by families and educators. Organized in loose-leaf format, these handouts are designed to be individually photocopied and given by school psychologists to parents, teachers, administrators, and others working with children. The intention of these handouts is to help make a difference in the lives of children to foster their success as adults and parents of the next generation. Each handout includes general information about the topic, its relation to child development and strategies for supporting children at home and at school. The handouts are not intended to be comprehensive reports or detailed prescriptions, but to provide sufficient information to clarify important issues, initial steps to take in addressing a problem, and suggestions for further courses of action.
