Multicultural Projects Index: Things To Make and Do To Celebrate Festivals, Cultures, and Holidays around the World. Second Edition.
Pilger, Mary Anne
The legacies of all cultures can be found in their creations--their arts, their celebrations, and their traditions. This book is designed to help educators introduce students to the diversity of people around the world through creative, hands-on activities based on cultural traditions. It offers teachers, librarians, and parents access to 28,000 fascinating learning projects from 1,736 sources commonly found in most public and school libraries. Building on material from the first edition, this index helps educators find activities for virtually any subject area and situation. Costumes, decorations, foods, handicrafts, songs, dance, and festival and holiday customs are some of the projects than can be used to extend learning across the curriculum. Nearly 6,000 subjects are listed in the index. Entries briefly describe the activities and guide readers to specific pages within the sources indexed. A list of these sources at the end of the book provides users with complete bibliographic information. Craft projects include patterns and materials lists. New to this edition is an alphabetical list of books by author names. In addition, a new streamlined format makes this edition easier to use than the previous volume. (AEF)
