This document provides a summative evaluation of an ongoing collaborative professional development project that focuses on a course in experimental science learning. Project goals include: (1) providing elementary school teachers with a professional development program for science education that is grounded in the National Science Education Standards; (2) developing a collaborative model for restructuring and improving a teacher education program; and (3) enabling teachers to gain personal experience, knowledge, and confidence in the scientific investigation of questions pertaining to earth, space, life, and physical sciences. The goals of the course include providing teachers of kindergarten through Grade 3 students with inquiry-based scientific activities, teaching science as inquiry, and laying the foundations for district-wide systemic change.
