Statistical Profile of Higher Education in West Virginia, 1996-97.

This publication provides statistical data on enrollment, degrees conferred, faculty, and financing at West Virginia's 16 public colleges and universities. It also provides selected data for the 10 independent colleges and universities in the state. A highlights section notes a stable level of credit headcount enrollment over the previous year, Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) enrollment of 59,320, and 5.68 percent minority student enrollment. Chapter 1 provides headcount and FTE enrollment data from 1987-96 for the system and for individual institutions, as well as detailed enrollment data for fall 1996. A table summarizing continuing education activities is presented for the first time. Chapter 2 provides data on degrees conferred by program, institution, and gender. Chapter 3 provides data on faculty characteristics, including rank, highest degree held, age, tenure status, salary, and gender. Chapter 4 provides fiscal data, including total operating and capital expenditures, educational and general revenues, other revenue and expenditures, and student fees. (BF)
