Positive Behavioral Support in the Home and Community: A Bibliography for Families. NICHCY Bibliography 4, Second Edition.
National Information Center for Children and Youth with Disabilities, Washington, DC.
This bibliography is designed to help families identify the many materials available on the subject of problem behaviors, behavioral disorders, and positive behavioral support. This list identifies selected resources to help families understand and positively address the behavior challenges associated with disabilities such as autism, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, behavior disorders, emotional disturbances, learning disabilities, and mental retardation. These resources are designed to help parents to look at their children within the larger context of their home and community environment, to identify what factors influence or trigger challenging behavior, and to develop an understanding of how to provide the appropriate positive behavioral support. Fifty books and/or videos and 32 organizations that can provide additional information on behavioral issues for students with disabilities are listed. Names, addresses, and telephone numbers of 34 publishers are provided at the end of the document. (CR)
