"'Vive le francais': Strategies for Recruiting and Retaining Students in French Classes" (Ellen Lorraine Friedrich, Lollie Barbare Eykyn, Barbara Owens McKeithan) discusses the strong role that French can play in general education, and methods for increasing student interest.
