This instructional guide focuses on legal careers, a part of the Business Services and Technology Program developed by the Michigan Department of Education Office of Career and Technical Education. It provides a variety of curriculum materials for teaching about the occupations of legal office specialist and legal assistant. The legal office specialist materials are divided into three parts. Part one outlines 24 tasks for 4 units and lists student assignments from 4 textbooks. Part two is a practicum that provides a variety of self-contained exercises with answer keys, using forms and materials found in Michigan law offices. This part is divided into three legal specialties--litigation, estate planning and probate, and real estate. Part three includes Internet exercises with answer keys for each task. The legal assistant materials are organized in two parts. Part one outlines 39 tasks for 10 units and lists student assignments from legal assistant textbooks.
