The activities provide experiences that develop curiosity, understanding, and problem solving skills. Activities, exploration, and experimentation include: (1) translating ideas into mathematical language and symbols; (2) learning to make reasonable estimates; (3) developing independence in solving meaningful problems; (4) developing measurement skills; (5) constructing and interpreting tables, charts, and graphs; and (6) examining notions of elementary probability and statistics.
