Directory of Doctoral Study in Rehabilitation. Second Edition.
Maki, Dennis R.; Berven, Norman L.
The purpose of this directory is to provide information to rehabilitation professionals and to prospective students who might be interested in pursuing doctoral study in rehabilitation. Doctoral programs are described in terms of degrees and majors offered, mission and strengths, faculty, application and admission requirements, curriculum, and positions held by graduates. Attempts were made to identify and contact all university programs offering doctoral study in rehabilitation. Program faculty were sometimes uncertain as to whether they actually provided doctoral study in rehabilitation. The uncertainties seemed to derive from situations where a rehabilitation emphasis or concentration might be available within a broader, more generic program or where a faculty member, perhaps in a Master's degree program in rehabilitation counseling, might sometimes supervise doctoral students within another program. It was left to the discretion of the faculty member as to whether the program should be included in this directory. Information was gathered through a three-phase survey. Thirty programs are listed.
