Short Plays for Young Actors. Young Actors Series.
Slaight, Craig, Ed.; Sharrar, Jack, Ed.
This collection of short plays for young actors features a young person's point of view and is intended to be used as a sourcebook by students and teachers. The collection is designed to appeal to a wide variety of theatrical tastes and embraces a variety of styles and themes. Although the unifying factor of the collection is the aforementioned youthful perspective and the fact that every play is only one act, the stories told, as well as the ways in which they are presented, are decidedly different. The plays in the collection were chosen because they are compelling in their writing and passionate in their delivery. Each play's script is prefaced by an author biography and information about the play's original production. Among the authors of plays in the collection are Horton Foote, Thornton Wilder, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Marivaux, and the editors, Jack Sharrar and Brad Slaight. (CR)
