Multicultural Education Resource Guide.
This guide lists resources for use by parents and teachers in multicultural education. It is prefaced by two reprinted articles about multicultural education, "Learning about Diversity: What Parents and Teachers Can Do," by Francis Roberts ("Parents' Magazine," May 1992), and "Teaching Children To Respect Diversity," by Gwendolyn Calvert Baker (Association for Childhood Education International, Wheaton, MD, 1995). Chapter 1 lists 19 sources (publishers) of fully designed curricula and courses for multicultural education. In Chapter 2, 45 sources of less extensive multicultural educational texts, workbooks, and supplementary classroom materials are listed. Chapter 3 introduces 35 companies that supply toys and games useful for a multicultural education. In Chapter 4, seven companies that produce software for multicultural education are described. Publishers of books for multicultural reading (158 companies) are described in Chapter 5, which is followed by a "hot picks" list of 60 multicultural titles for children. Chapters 6 and 7 list six publishers of newsletters and five companies that provide services for teachers and students respectively. In Chapter 8, 18 organizations that sponsor multicultural events are listed, and Chapter 9 lists 12 associations with multicultural agendas. Speaker and workshop sources are listed in Chapter 10, and Chapter 11 lists 61 sources of multicultural music. Twenty suppliers of multicultural items of material culture are listed in Chapter 12.
