Registered Nursing Alumni Surveys, 1990-1994.

Since 1990, California's College of the Canyons (CoC) has conducted annual surveys of graduates from its Registered Nursing (RN) program. Between 1990 and 1994, surveys were sent to 193 RN graduates, with completed questionnaires received from 124 alumni. An analysis of responses for each year revealed the following: (1) 91.7% of the respondents from 1994 indicated that CoC was their first choice, compared to 95.5% in 1992 and only 84% in 1991; (2) 66.7% of the 1994 respondents indicated they had chosen CoC for its location, up from 37.5% in 1990, while 16.7% of the 1994 respondents chose it for the quality of the RN program, the lowest percentage of the 5 years (3) 95.9% of the 1994 graduates said that they were satisfied or very satisfied with the quality of instruction in the program, the highest percentage of the 5 years; (4) 62.5% of the 1994 graduates had a final grade point average between 3.5 and 4.0, compared to 42.9% of the 1993 graduates and 31.8% of the 1992 graduates; (5) 79.2% of the 1994 respondents were currently employed, 4.2% were continuing their education, 8.3% were caring for home or family, and 8.3% were unemployed; and (6) 100% of the 1994 graduates were satisfied or very satisfied with their working conditions, while 12% of the 1991 were dissatisfied.
