The 14 tables presented in this fact book provide information about the physical facilities at Texas public universities and colleges based on data gathered during 1995. Overall, the data show a deficit of space at public universities and health-related institutions; a ratio of deferred maintenance to facilities replacement value of 2 percent for Texas public institutions (versus 5 percent nationally); plans to spend over $4 billion for new construction, additions, repair and renovations, infrastructure projects and land acquisition over the next five years; and occupancy by Texas public institutions of more than 45 million square feet of assignable educational and general space with a replacement value of $10 billion. Specific tables cover: (1) space analysis and utilization; (2) 1995 deferred maintenance and replacement values; (3) 1995 physical plan expenditures and appropriations for operations and maintenance; (4) approved and evaluated construction cost summary from 1992 through July, 1996; (5) approved and evaluated construction and land acquisition projections during fiscal year 1995.
