Welcoming the Children. [Videotape.]
Daley, Shannon P.; Pillow, Martha
Designed for use in conjunction with the book "Welcome the Child: A Child Advocacy Guide for Churches" (PS024245), this video and study guide show how local congregations are making a difference addressing urgent needs of children by using their own resources and in partnership with other groups. The print study guide details steps for a session--which would include use of the video--to teach a congregation about the need for child advocacy action and how to devise and implement such action. The video tape details a strategy for child advocacy with the following steps: (1) assess human, physical, and financial resources; (2) identify needs; (3) match needs and resources; (4) build partnerships; (5) raise awareness; and (6) educate for action using specific goals. The video's step-by-step teaching format is enhanced by interviews with child caregivers and observations of children in action. (HTH)
