Multiple Intelligences in the Mathematics Classroom.
This book contains activities and projects designed to be congruent with three underlying philosophies: the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics' Curriculum and Evaluation Standards; Howard Gardner's multiple intelligences; and manipulatives, activities, and projects. The introduction contains information about educational reforms; multiple intelligences in the classroom; manipulatives, activities, and projects; mathematics and the 'real world'; alternative assessment; and how to use the book. Chapters include activities and projects on the following topics: estimation, large numbers, and numeration; applying fractions and decimals in the real world; geometry; measurement; and data collection and probability. Included are two charts that cross reference each activity by mathematical topic and by type of intelligence. An appendix contains instructions for teachers to design their own activities.
