A Multiple Intelligences Road to a Quality Classroom.
Berman, Sally
Translating William Glasser's quality school ideas and Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences into simple language and practical ideas, this book contains 21 activities or strategies designed to help students in developing and organizing some new learning behaviors. The book is divided into three parts. Part 1, entitled "Paving the Road: Setting the Environment for Quality," introduces trust-building activities and provides practical listening exercises for the students. Part 2, "Driving the Road: Teaching Control Theory to Students," deals with applying Glasser's control theory in teaching. The two chapters in this part introduce and examine the five basic needs, internal motivation for behavior, perceptions about control, and the relationship between total behaviors and the control theory track. Part 3, entitled "Following the Road to Success: Self-Evaluating and Planning for Quality Learning," is subdivided into two sections dealing with quality learning process, planning, goal setting and self-evaluation, as well as evaluation of behaviors. Each chapter lists the specific intelligences it deals with. Contains 35 references. (MOK)
