An International Student's Guide to Mexican Universities.
Adelman, Alan, Ed.; Salazar, Sylvia Ortega, Ed.
This guide for students interested in studying at Mexican universities covers 50 universities including all state universities, the National University of Mexico, as well as a representative selection of the leading private universities. Introductory material provides a brief history of Mexico, a discussion of differences from and similarities to the U.S. and Canadian systems, the application process (including visa requirements), guidelines for transferring credits between the U.S. and Mexico, North American institutions participating in academic mobility programs, and general tips for international students in Mexico. A section of charts and tables summarizes information separately for public and private universities and covers: the distribution of total enrollment in public and private universities, the total number of students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs at each university, teaching staff (full time, part time, or hourly) at each university, and student enrollment according to subject area at each university. A map identifies the major areas of Mexico. The two-page description of each university usually includes photographs, sources of further information, information on the local community, institutional background, campus, accommodations, computers, fields of study, library, cafeteria, calendar, summer programs, and unique offerings.
