This book contains 19 papers grouped in three sections that lead the reader through the process of planning, producing, and presenting materials in open and distance learning, based on experience in Great Britain. Following an overview by Roger Lewis, the Planning section contains the following six papers: "Resources and Constraints in Open and Distance Learning" (Jane Henry); "Target Audience: Assembling a Profile of Your Learners" (Alan Woodley, Alison Ashby); "G/NVQs [General National Vocational Qualifications] and Open Learning" (Roger Lewis); "Competence-based Training Using Open and Distance Learning Materials" (Richard Freeman); "Course Design: Order and Presentation" (Clive Lawless); and "Selection and Use of Media for Open and Distance Learning" (Adrian Kirkwood).
