This collection presents papers pertaining to the wide area of educational multimedia and hypermedia. The conference serves as a forum for the dissemination of information on the research, development, and applications in all areas of multimedia/hypermedia in education across all disciplines and levels of education. The papers cover a wide range of topics including: artificial intelligence; authoring; distance education; navigation; learning by doing; language learning; media in education; pedagogical issues; hypermedia systems; hypermedia applications; small dedicated applications; improving classroom teaching; interactive learning environments; novel applications approaches and ideas; and computer supported cooperative work. Special attention is given to distance education and artificial intelligence in education. The volume is a guide to what is happening in educational multimedia and hypermedia, now and in the future.
