Nelsen, Jane; And Others
This book is a parenting reference work that offers background on common disciplinary problems and parenting issues, advice on how to handle problems and issues as they arise, and insight into how to avoid disciplinary problems in the future. The book is divided into three sections: Basic Positive Discipline Parenting Tools, Positive Discipline Solutions, and Short Tips to Avoid Common Problems. The first section offers information on general aspects of positive discipline such as the use of natural and logical consequences in an explanation of the wrongness of an action, the establishment of household routines, and the use of family meetings. The second section provides information on common behavioral problems and parenting issues such as pouting, homework, hobbies, cruelty to animals, and addictions. Topics here are listed alphabetically to allow for easy reference. The third section offers information on issues common in the parenting of young children (such as blaming, pouting, and giving up) and those common to teenagers (such as peer pressure, pregnancy, and telephone use).
