This directory provides descriptions of training and technology resources that address the needs of the local highway community. It is divided into seven sections: (1) resources that deal with structures spanning roadways or carrying roads over rivers, streams, railroads, and depressed areas; (2) resources dealing with the control through planning, design, construction, and maintenance of the flow of water, both surface and underground, through, under, and alongside highways and with the roadside; (3) resources dealing with mechanical devices and specialized units used to excavate, fill, compact, transport, pave, and maintain roads and streets; (4) resources addressing the art of developing a mix of personnel, material, machines, and methods to achieve a specified goal and resources on surveying, mathematics, plan reading, safety, liability, and computers; (5) resources concerning the safe movement of vehicles through intersections, work areas, and special zones and winter operations; (6) resources that deal with the design, construction, maintenance, and management of roads and streets; and (7) information about related and other sources of training and technology resources.
