The Graduate Follow-Up Study, 1993-1994.

In fall 1994, Owens Community College (OCC), in Ohio, conducted a follow-up study of all 956 graduates from 1993-94 to determine their level of educational satisfaction, employment status, and other background information. Completed surveys were returned by 664 of the graduates, for a response rate of 70%. Survey results included the following: (1) respondents were 95.6% Caucasian, 63% female, and 62% were older than 25; (2) 94.9% indicated that they were satisfied with their education at OCC and 87.4% were satisfied with college facilities; (3) 85.9% agreed that they were a more valuable employee because of their education; (4) 91.7% of the graduates were employed, with 81.8% of these employed full-time; (5) for graduates employed full-time, 10.7% earned less than $13,000, 31.6% earned between $13,000 and $20,999, 36.9% earned between $21,000 and $28,999, and 20.7% earned $29,000 or more; (6) 79.7% of graduates stated that their employment was related to their program of study; (7) 74.8% were not in their current position prior to their enrollment at OCC; (8) only 7.7% indicated that the OCC Placement Office was instrumental in securing their job; (9) 21.6% were currently continuing their education; (10) 68% had been certified or licensed in their field since graduating; (11) 62% would be interested in taking classes at OCC in the future; and (12) 95.1% would recommend the college to others.
