This publication provides guidelines and worksheets for orienting This publication provides guidelines and worksheets for orienting principal, the new teacher, and the assigned, more experienced "buddy teacher" are outlined, and a schedule of key due dates for their responsibilities is provided. Worksheets are provided for new teachers to structure their learning and document their knowledge of key school personnel, key parent and community resources, diocesan resource personnel, paperwork procedures at the school, sources of information regarding schedules and protocols within the school, procedures to access school equipment, noninstructional responsibilities, personnel policies, educational resources beyond the school community, school physical facilities, and parish neighborhoods. Another set of worksheets focuses on helping the teacher create the classroom climate, including teaching philosophy, classroom management, and the role of religious practices. Worksheets for helping teachers plan lessons are then provided as part of a six-step planning model, with a special emphasis on the incorporation of values into class lessons. Guidelines for maintaining a professional journal are also provided. Worksheets are also available on computer disk. (PB)
